I recently had the absolute pleasure of photographing Jackie and Andrew’s wedding day at Waveny House in New Canaan Connecticut. Their day couldn’t have been more beautiful between the weather and the foliage mother nature provided for us.
The flowers bloomed in the garden where they had their ceremony and the sun was shining perfectly through the clouds.
Waveny House is a historic mansion that feels straight out of a story book. Complete with grand staircases and ornate windows. I could photograph there every day!
One of the coolest parts of this wedding venue for Jackie & Andrew? This is actually the same place Jackie’s parents got married some years ago. Talk about a full circle moment. The entire day was infused with so much nostalgia and deeper meaning!!
Jackie and Andrew are the coolest couple. They met in college when Jackie was working the morning shift at their gym. They would say the polite hellos when Andrew would come in. Later they ran into each other at a bar during senior year and Andrew confessed he’d had a crush on her for the past year.
They dated on and off for a while and when they came back to each other they were finally ready to admit they were in love.
But, plot twist: Jackie had just accepted a job that would move her to Texas after graduating.
But when you know, you know. And they continued dating long distance for 2.5 years until Andrew finally moved to Texas.
After 3 years Andrew proposed, and they started planning their wedding day together.
In their words: “Our story is not traditional, but we have grown up together. We navigated our twenties together, figured out the kind of people we want to be, and showed up for each other every day. We are truly a team and I know that we will continue to grow and navigate challenges together”

Their wedding day was everything elegant and classic.
Basically, if you want a timeless wedding: take notes. It was gorgeous.
Jackie’s dress was a classic full A-line wedding dress with a standout detail of sheer, pearled tulle glove/sleeves with a long, airy veil that laid perfectly on her gown’s train. Their bridal party was in a champagne pink of all shades, adding dimension to their color scheme.
While the boys were in dusty black suits with black ties and Andrew was in a tuxedo with a black bowtie. Their florals were a curated white, greens, and the hydrangeas added that pop of champagne pink. Talk about a cohesive vision!
Their ceremony was held out on the lawn at Waveny House.
The historic pathway leading down the alter, lined with chairs for their guests. The ceremony itself was so meaningful! I don’t think there was a dry eye when they finally said “I Do” and became officially a married couple! As an East Coast wedding photographer, I still tear up every ceremony I photograph!
After the ceremony, we spent some time wandering the epic grounds of this mansion, photographing them in all their newlywed glow.
The setting sun gave us that glowy golden light, and these two were so happy & excited. The reality of the day was setting in, and we got to capture their love as they let it wash over them: they were actually husband and wife at last!

The day ended with a full-on celebration in Waveny House!
The great hall was decorated with the most gorgeous tables & florals. The custom details were perfect, and the guests had an amazing time throughout the whole party.
They danced the night away with their favorite people. Celebrating that after all their years together, they were officially a married!
Their reception included these epic details:
- An elegant three tier cake that was so, so elegant
- Custom napkins featuring their pets!
- Glow sticks on the dance floor
- Tequila shots with friends!
- A epic sparkler exit for the bride and groom
