If the question of “What to wear” is weighing heavy on your mind, here are some tips to help you get started in the right direction. For most people engagement photos are the first time they are in front of a professional photographer. You’ll want to put your best foot forward to get the most beautiful results from this session!
Neutral Colors
Sticking to a neutral color pallet will bring attention to your faces and make for better skin tones. A photo tells a story and you are the main character. Choosing light neutral colors will attract the feeling of emotion and the love that you two share. In technical terms, wearing neutrals will be best because light bounces off of things, aka each other when posing together. Think if you’re in front of a red wall, your skin tone will show a red tint to it depending on which direction the light source is coming from. With neutral colors the light that is bouncing will keep neutral skin tones therefore making you look authentically you.

Confident & Comfortable
Not only do you want to look good, you want to feel good too. During your session, you want to be able to move freely and feel confident in what you have on. Try your outfits on and move around in them together, walk, dance, run! Have fun finding your perfect fit together.

Coordinate
Coordinate with your color pallet and accessories. Rather than wear the same colors, wear colors that compliment each other. For reference, look up a color pallet on Google or Pinterest that you like and match your outfits to that.

How many outfits?
Bring two outfits, I suggest the first outfit be on the casual side and the second more refined. Dress up! You only get beautiful photos done together so many times. It doesn’t have to be a suit and tie but something you would typically wear to a nice dinner or to a friends wedding. I love photographing beautiful flowy dresses. You can find some here at my amazon storefront!

Bring your dog!
They’ll love getting out with you two and makes for a more laid back session. If you decide to bring your dog it’s best to bring a friend along with you so they can be with the doggo while we continue your session.

Hair & Makeup
If you’re up for it – try scheduling your hair & makeup trial before your session so you’re all glammed up!

Think of the season!
We are blessed with 4 seasons in the Hudson Valley. I love light, creamy colors for spring and summer. The fall is beautiful with earthy tones that will compliment the scenery around.

Have Fun!
The most important point! If you’re nervous to be in front of the camera, don’t be! I will most likely be talking your ears off which results in you forgetting the camera is even there.
